A Tour through the Great American Songbook & more with singer Marina Pacowkski and guitarist Larry Koonse Spirit and Music Concert Series curated by Marina Pacowski. Episode 21 Expect fireworks of swing, latin rhythms and french songs, performed by two masters musicians!

Please join PRS contributing musician, Marina Pacowski and her very special guest, the marvelous Grammy nominated guitarist Larry Koonse for this wonderful evening of music. Join us for a tour through the great American songbook and some new jazz classics. If you love swinging hip vocals, accompanied by a masterful guitarist, this is for you! Koonse has played with Bob Brookmeyer and Mel Torme among many others. Pacowski is being hailed for "her improvisatory prowess, having recorded and played with Roy Mccurdy, John Clayton, Josh Nelson, Larry Koonse, and a host of others."

Here is what the press says about Pacowski:

Bebop Spoken Here (UK) by Nick Mondello: “An outstanding vocalist with a truly hip and deeply swinging approach. She’s perky, got flair, and uber-style. One can easily sense a deep familiarity with Saunders’ material, as well as the trumpeter’s highly unique improvisations. Her time, pitch sense, and diction are all dead-on. She can easily cover the broad range of material here from the hip to the balladic to the hard-swinging."

LA Jazz Scene by Scott Yanow: “Marina Pacowski proves to be an outstanding jazz singer. While she performs 13 jazz standards, she never coasts or sings the predictable… one of the finest jazz debuts of recent times, making one look forward to Marina Pacowski’s future projects.”

French vocalist and scat virtuoso, rising star Marina Pacowski celebrates the jubilant, hard-swinging music of musical genius Carl Saunders in the official release concert of her new CD: “New Jazz Standards, Volume 7” on Summit Records. Marina will be backed by an all-star band, including legendary drummer Roy McCurdy, pianist Josh Nelson, bassist Ken Wild, trumpeter Ron Stout, saxophonist Rickey Woodard, trombonist Scott Whitfield and a couple of special surprise guests for a highly entertaining evening!

Praise from her last album: "It is kind of rare when you hear a vocalist who can truly fit into the category of jazz singer. Such a singer is Marina Pacowski. Pacowski has a vocal quality when singing lyrics that is a blend of Blossom Dearie and Billie Holiday. Her scatting is rangy and intelligent. There are not many debut albums by a vocalist that reach the heights of excellence that Marina Pacowski has achieved on this one.” - by Joe Lang, Jersey Jazz
